"Uncle" Glenn's Visit

Andy's friend from Bethesda, Glenn (aka "Uncle" Glenn), was in Colorado for work and was able to spend the weeekend with us before heading back to DC. Friday night, we tried to go to Hacienda for dinner. I had called ahead and they told me 35 minutes. When we arrived, I walked up to the hostess desk holding Avery and they told me it would be another 40 minutes and asked if that would be okay. No, it's not okay when we have 2 toddlers that need to be fed! We decided we still wanted Mexican, so headed over to Three Margaritas and we were able to get in with no wait! We had a fun dinner and the kid's enjoyed their quesadilla!

Saturday after swim lessons, I was able to sneak out for a mani/pedi and then headed downtown to meet the girls from book club for tea at the Brown Palace. Andy and I actually got engaged there, so it holds a special place for me. I have been to several events there and always wanted to have the tea experience. We had great tea, conversation, scones, finger sandwiches, and tea pastries!

Saturday night, Andy and Glenn headed to the Nuggets game after dinner at Wazee Supper Club. Andy got to wear his Birdman shirt I got him last year when we went to the playoffs game and Glenn borrowed his headband to get in the Nuggets spirit. They had a fun night and enjoyed the close game and Nugget win.

Sunday, we decided to go to Lucile's Creole Cafe for brunch and apparently everyone else had the same idea. Glenn went ahead to put our name on the list and meet some other friends of his that live in Denver that were joining us. It was a gorgeous day and we hung out on the lawn and enjoyed beignets while we waited. Avery and Ryan enjoyed their first taste of beignets - who wouldn't! We finally were seated and had a delicious brunch. After brunch, Glenn had to head to the airport. It was great to see him and hang out.

Outdoor Fun

We are finishing our basement and they start soon, so we have been busy organizing what we have down in the basement, picking out carpet, tile, fixtures, etc. It will be a painful 10 weeks or so, but will be great once everything is complete! Avery and Ryan have been good troopers, so we wanted to make sure we got outside to enjoy the weather. They were so little last summer, we didn't get to make use of the backyard. Ryan took off in the grass and wanted to explore, play with the rocks and Avery was a bit more timid and stayed put. We got out the bubbles and they enjoyed trying to catch them. Avery is officially a walker now and will make her way around the house walking, while Ryan prefers crawling, pushing a walker, or using the wall for now!

Swim Lessons

We started swim lessons at the local rec center on Saturday. We figure it is a good start to introduce them to the water and then decide out what we want to do next. Out of 10 babies, Ryan is the only boy, which is hard to believe! We thought he would take right to the pool, but so far that isn't the case. Avery had a blast and seems to enjoy herself. We will see how next weekend goes! With our hands full at the pool, we haven't captured any pictures in the water yet. Maybe next time!

Happy Passover/Easter!

We enjoyed Matzah Brei over at the Krumholz's on Easter Sunday. Matzah Brie is a traditional breakfast during passover. I have never had a well made Matzah Brie and Matt's was very good, especially with the strawberry jam. The Krumholz's have 3 kids and their youngest is 5 months younger than Avery and Ryan. The kids had fun playing together and Ryan made a new friend in their daschund. It was so cute!

Avery will stand in place if she is a little
nervous and everyone is staring at her.

Birth to Birthday Collage

I built the below collages on Shutterfly. It shows a picture from each month in their first year from birth to birthday. It was fun looking through all the pictures and to see how they changed from month to month. My next project will be a photo book for their first year!

The Office

I had Friday off, so we headed downtown to have lunch with Andy and stop by his office. We went to Rock Bottom and Avery and Ryan enjoyed a grilled cheese and were pretty well behaved. We then went to the 44th floor to Andy's office and captured some cute pictures. We then went up to the top floor (52) to visit some more people. They were both so funny. Ryan wanted to crawl around and check everything out. I had to grab him before he went into one of the executive's office. Avery showed off her standing/walking skills and just kept smiling and laughing. They were so cute in their outfits!!
