Nesting

Andy and I have been nesting. We have cleaned out all the closets and have been getting the house ready for the babies. We had a productive few days over the Christmas holiday working on the nursery. We managed to put in a ceiling fan/light fixture, shelves, and a curtain rod. We were pretty impressed with ourselves. I'm working from home this week as January will be a busy month at work. We are planning a low key New Year's Eve as I probably won't make it up until midnight.
Our friends, the Carlson's, had their baby boy today via emergency c-section. They welcomed Benjamin William into the world just in time for the tax deduction. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21 in. Congratulations and we can't wait to meet him! It will be great that our babies will be close in age to Ben and his big brother Jack.

Dr appt update

I had an ultrasound and dr appt today. They checked the cervix and growth of the babies and everything looks great. Baby A is now 2lbs 12oz and at the 56%ile and Baby B is now 2lbs 15oz and at the 63%ile. The percentiles are not specific to twins, which means we have 2 good sized babies. It is great knowing they are closing in on 3lbs at 28 1/2 weeks into the pregnancy. I didn't see my normal dr today as she is on vacation. The dr I saw today confirmed that everything looks great and that boring is a good thing. The next appt is in two weeks and they will just check my cervix. Then, they will look at growth again in 4 weeks from now. Can't believe the babies will be here in 2 months or less!

Andy and I are looking forward to a quiet Christmas tomorrow and will probably venture out to see Marley and Me. We are going to attempt to install a ceiling fan/light in the nursery tomorrow. We will see how that goes.

New Bedroom Furniture

Our furniture arrived from Vermont last weekend and we really like it. We sold our other bedroom set on Craig's list in November, so have had a makeshift bedroom for a while. We are loving the king size bed - there is now enough room for all five of us! We moved the queen mattress upstairs and now have 2 guest rooms until the babies are older and each get their own rooms.

Nursery Furniture

The nursery is coming along! We have two cribs and a changing station/dresser in the room. We have a ceiling fan/light to install, some shelves, hooks, valance, etc. And, may put their names above their respective cribs. We are going with a jungle theme and have ordered one bedding set so far. As you can see the closet is also filling up - some from gifts and some from us shopping.

3D Ultrasound

We had our 3D ultrasound today. I posted some 2d and 3d pics below. The boy did not want to show his face, so we couldn't get any 3D images of him. They are both pretty scrunched in there. It was funny to see the girl kicking her brother and trying to get more space. After the ultrasound today, I'm 100% positive we are having a boy and a girl (see photos below). The next dr appt is 12/24, and they will check the growth of both babies.

Two heads
Definitely a boy

Definitely a girl

December!!

Hard to believe it is December already! We had a nice Thanksgving with Andy's parents in Denver, even though I was a bit under the weather. I felt better on Saturday (my birthday) to venture out. We headed to Colorado Springs and had lunch at the Broadmoor, rode through Garden of the Gods, and stopped at the Air Force Academy. And, then we went out for a nice dinner in downtown Littleton that night. We did a little shopping for the babies and worked on arranging the furniture in the nursery. It is coming along and we will post pics soon. We got about 7 inches of snow over the weekend, which was unexpected! Thanks Barbara and Sandy for making the trip out to see us!

I had a ultrasound today to check on the growth of the babies. Baby A weighs about 1 pound 10 ounces and is in the 40th percentile and is head down. Baby B weighs about 1 pound 15 ounces and is in the 60th percentile and is breech. So, everything is looking good. I'm definitely feeling a lot of movement and Andy got to feel them moving around the other night. The next appointment is Dec. 24th! We are doing a 3D ultrasound for fun on the 13th and are looking forward to that!
