Anniversary Trip

Andy and I had talked about planning a trip for our 5 year anniversary. A business trip to London came up the same week as our anniversary, so Andy was able to join me in London after I wrapped up work. We were fortunate that Nan was able to stay with the kids (and Sarah also stayed with them one day). We had three full days of sight seeing and took full advantage of each day. Luckily, we had great weather 2 of the 3 days.

Tower of London and Tower Bridge - View from my work hotel

Our first stop - St Paul's Cathedral

We climbed up 528 steps to the very top and had amazing views

Next, we headed to tour the Tower of London (Andy in front of the Tower Bridge)

After grabbing some fish and chips, we took a boat tour down the Thames and got off by the Parliment and Big Ben.

We toured Westminster Abbey and then headed to Trafalgar Square and then went in the National Gallery. The countdown to the Olympics is in the square.

We made our way back to the Tower Bridge and got to go to the top

After a great Thai dinner, we headed to the theatre to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It was a fun musical that just opened in NYC last month.

Day 2 was our anniversary. We took the train to Windsor, which is right outside of London. Windsor is a cute little town and Windsor Castle is just up the hill. Windsor is where the Queen and Prince Phillip spend their weekends.

After an educational tour of the castle, we enjoyed lunch outside near the Thames and did some shopping. That night, we celebrated our anniversary at Latium, an Italian restaurant. It was delicious.

Day 3, we took the train to Wimbeldon and did a tour of the Wimbeldon grounds. It was a really good tour.

We then headed back into London, and went to the top of Wellington Arch, walked by Buckingham Palace and did a tour at the Royal Mews (stables), and shopping at Harrods.

Saturday night, we had dinner at a cute pub in Notting Hill. We had an early wake up call on Sunday morning, as they had Daylight Savings, and our car picked us up at 5:30am (really 4:30). We had a great trip and were ready to get back to Avery and Ryan!
