New Year's Eve

After booking Avery and Ryan's birthday party at Great Play, a new kid's gym and actually owned by a former co-worker of Andy's, we headed to Which Wich for lunch. Then, we spent some time at The Wildlife Experience as it has been awhile since we have been - perfect for a cold day! They really enjoyed the artic exhibit and next time we go we will catch one of the movies. I ran to the store and Andy went home with the kids. We were all set to go to the Carlson's tonight to celebrate New Year's and Ben's birthday (our long standing tradition) but when I got home Avery and Ryan were crashed in our bed they had been coughing some today and Ryan was running a fever. We canceled our plans and had a low key New Year's. We were bummed to miss out but didn't want to spread any germs! After we got the kids down to bed, we celebrated the New Year with champagne and fondue! Here's to looking back on a great 2012 and excited to see what 2013 has in store for us!

Broncos vs Chiefs

We decided a few months ago to buy tickets to the Chiefs game with our friends, Matt and Michelle.  The high temperature of the day was around 35 degrees. The cold was manageable through the first half and we actually made it to the end of the 3rd quarter. Our fingers and toes were a little frozen as we made our way back to the car!  It was a fun game and the Broncos did great.  Looking forward to the playoffs and hopefully a Super Bowl appearance.

Avery and Ryan love wearing their Bronco gear on game days.  Avery just got the new cheerleader outfit as a hand me down and loves it!

Cool Cuts

Avery and Ryan were both in need of haircuts so we headed over to Cool Cuts on Saturday morning. They both did great and were happy to get their lollipops and do some playing afterwards!

Crave

We picked up the kids from school and decided we would try a new place for dinner. We settled on Crave Real Burgers in Highlands Ranch Town Center. I had recently heard it was really good and they had just opened up at this location.   Definitely not a place to go if you are on a diet!  Andy picked the Colorado burger (a burger with shredded lamb, avocado, onions and poblano) and I had the Campfire (a buffalo burger with raspberry bbq sauce, poblano and onion strings).  They both were delicious.  They even have a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches and a burger between two donuts.  Crazy!

Christmas

We enjoyed a quiet, white Christmas morning at home.  The kids received an easel and art supplies from Santa.  And, then got to open gifts from us and my family.  Ryan quickly went through opening all his gifts and Avery took her time and had several more to open when Ryan was already done.  It was great to see the look on their faces as they opened each one.  We did get a Nintendo Wii from Grams and Gramps and spent the afternoon setting it open and playing tennis, golf, bowling and dancing!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at the Carlson's and had a great time.  Jennifer set up cookie frosting project for the kids and they had a blast and were very well behaved.  For dinner, the adults  had a delicious lasagna, salad and bread, along with some rum cake for dessert.  The kids had noodles and then got to eat one of the cookies they frosted for dessert.  We all left very full!!

Colorado History Center

Avery and Ryan spent a half day at school while we ran some errands. We picked them up right before nap time and headed downtown to check out the Colorado History Center.  The building is quite nice and very well lit.  We had fun exploring both floors.  Avery got scared in a few parts (especially when Ryan was driving the old time car with special effects).  Andy and I probably enjoyed it a little bit more and would have like to learned more in some areas but the kids would be ready to move on.  Glad we got a chance to check it out and I'm sure we will be back sometime in the future!
