Avett Brothers

A week ago, Andy won tickets to the Avett Brothers at Red Rocks from KBCO for submitting a "Select a Set" that they picked and played on the radio. We lined up a babysitter and off we went. We realized it has probably been over four years since we have been. We were going to go last year, but the concert we were going to go to got cancelled. It was so good to be back and need to make sure to go at least once a year! We didn't really know the Avett Brothers, but did listen to some of their music before going.   We were in the first row of the reserved seats - can't beat that!  They put on a great show and now we are Avett Brother fans;)!!

Birthday Parties

On Saturday, we had two birthday parties. We started in Parker at the Lifetime to celebrate Billy and James's birthdays. The kids had a great time jumping in the blow up castle and sliding down. They also got to play on the scooters. We only were able to stay for the first half before heading to Highland's Ranch for Taylor's birthday party. We enjoyed lunch and the birthday cookie before it started to rain and it was time to head home.

BBQ for the Addis Family

Addis Family had big news to share with us - they decided to sell their house and move to Vail. Dana and I have been friends for twenty years and both moved to Denver 13 years ago! Stacey and Matt were friends with Dana and Brendan in Chicago and also moved to Denver 13 years ago.  We had a BBQ to get together before they moved to the mountains. It was great to see everyone and the kids had fun playing inside and outside.  It is always good to have dinner over at the Gordan's as Matt is a master of the Big Green Egg.  We had delicious shrimp, chicken and veggies for dinner!  Matt and Stacey are neighbors with the sister of one of our friends that we also know and in late May, their 2 1/2 year old son was diagnosed with liver cancer and started chemotherapy immediately.  He has a twin sister and they also have a younger brother that is almost 1.  Stacey and Matt put a sign on their garden for Judah's victory in this fight.  We are keeping up to date and so far, he is doing well, but no easy path.

Father's Day

The kids were up bright and early on Sunday morning.  Andy had to pick up Raleigh and I worked on getting unpacked. We decided to enjoy the pool and had lunch there as well before heading home. The kids slept for four hours that afternoon - and I was able to get in a nap as well.  We grilled out for Father's Day evening. It would have been nice to do more on Father's Day, but did need to get organized to head back to work on Monday!  Happy Father's Day Andy!

Hilton Head Vacation - Day 9

Saturday morning we had to pack up and check out of the house.  We were so happy with the beach house and would definitely rent it again!  We had time to do a quick bike ride with Uncle Greg and the kids (it was good to get them out of the house so Shyloe could finish packing up).  We headed to Mini Golf and my parents joined us for a little bit before heading back to Hickory.  The kids had fun and I think it took close to 2 hours to play 18 holes!  Afterwards, we went to lunch at Marleys Island Grille.  Greg and Shyloe decided to extend their vacation and got a place at the Marriott and we were able to hang out with them before we had to catch our flight.  We all hit the pool and had fun swimming.  We got cleaned up and were ready to head to the airport and decided to check the status to find that our flight off the Island was delayed and we were going to miss our connection in Charlotte.  They were able to re-book us on a later flight, but it meant we weren't going to land in Denver until 11:30.  We hung out a little longer at the Marriott before heading to Starbucks as we knew we were in for a long night.  We grabbed dinner in Charlotte and were lucky to get four seats in one row for our flight to Denver.  It didn't take long for Avery and Ryan to fall asleep, but Avery was not happy with me when we were getting close to landing and I had to get her more upright and buckled.  It was after 1am by the time we got home and got the kids transferred to their beds!  We were beat!  We had a fantastic time in Hilton Head and were so fortunate to have Andy's parents and my family join us.  The kids loved being on vacation (as did we!!) and will be tough being back to reality next week!

Hilton Head Vacation - Day 8

We had an awesome morning at the beach - it was quite sunny!  Before heading over, we got the kids in their matching shirts from Grams - so cute!  Andy got the sand castle/moat building down pat by Friday.  And, Ryan was a pro in the swimming pool.  He just loved jumping in and out of the pool.  Uncle Greg joined us while his family took a nap.  When Avery and Ryan went down for their nap, we snuck out and did a bike ride to explore a bit more of the area.

After nap time, we decided to take a trolly adventure over to Harbour Town with the kids.  They loved the trolly - it was a bit complicated on the transfers and finally made it.  We had a quick photo shoot in the tree house and the kids ran around a bit before we decided to head back.  The trolley ride back was just as complicated as it was on the way their - not sure why!!  We had leftover night to clean out the fridge and then back to Salty Dog marina. Avery and Greyson got matching butterflies "tattoos" and Taiten got a shark.  We did some shopping at the Salty Dog store and said bye to the Macaws (Cherokee, Kiwi and Captain).   Before heading back we got some ice cream!

Hilton Head Vacation - Day 7

We all took a bike ride over to the park.  The weather was great!   After more time at the beach and pool, our kids took a nice long nap. Uncle Greg went to find Barnacle Bill to get some fresh seafood and settled on shrimp and tuna.  And, then took Taiten to his first golf clinic!  Grams brought lots of bubbles and had fun with the kiddos on the porch.  We had a great meal and spent time back at the Salty Dog marina to check out the action.  So fun to see the cousins playing so well together!
