Mobile babies

Avery and Ryan have been army crawling the past few weeks to get what they want! Dec. 2nd, Avery decided to try crawling on all fours and I captured it in this video! You can see her doing her yoga poses, army crawl, and then switch to crawling on all fours. A week later, she was pulling up on everything - the coffee table, the exersaucer, the learning table, chairs, etc. Ryan started crawling on all fours a few days later and is working on pulling up and is so close!! We still need to get a video of this, so stay tuned!

Visit with Santa Claus

On Saturday, we went to the park with Taiten before they left to head back to Charlotte. Avery and Ryan really like the swings and will be going down the slides before we know it! We also took another bike ahead and checked out the other side of the island.

In the afternoon, we headed up to the market to visit Santa Claus. There was no line and as soon as we put them on Santa's lap, they both were not happy. This was the best picture of the bunch!

It was great to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my parents and brother and his family. Taiten is so funny, but has no idea what is in store for him when his baby sister arrives in a few months. We can't wait to meet her! It will be great that the cousins will be so close in age with Taiten being 10 months older and the new baby will be 13 months younger than Avery & Ryan.

Sunday was my birthday and we spent the whole day making our way back to Denver. I did luck out to have an empty seat next to me on both flights and it worked out well that both flights took off around their nap time. We took turns with Avery and Ryan on the plane and they are seasoned travelers now!

Luehrs Family Photo Shoot

Greg and Shyloe hired a professional photographer as our Christmas gift this year. So, we did those on Friday afternoon. The photographer got some great photos of each family, my parents with the grandkids, and all of us together. Here are a few of our favorites.

Thanksgiving at Kiawah

My family has been going to Kiawah Island with two other families for about 15 years now. We booked our flights in January for this Thanksgiving even before Avery and Ryan were born! Unfortunatley, there are no direct flights to Charleston, so we knew we would be in for some long travel days, so we decided to fly down on Monday and back on Sunday. Luckily, we had the weekend to get organized and packed! Andy and I have both been very busy at work the last few weeks and were both looking forward to a week with family and time away from the office.
We left our house at 6am on Monday morning to catch our flight. They did great on both flights and the layover. It was after 6pm by the time we got to the house. My parents got there the night before so they were settled in already. My mom and dad were very excited to see Avery and Ryan! To make things easier on Avery and Ryan and us, we kept them on Denver time. We had dinner at the Coulters house that night and enjoyed shrimp and grits. Lauren (6) and Meredith (4) loved playing with the babies.

Tuesday, it was a little cool and rainy off and on, so we took it easy and waited for Greg, Shyloe, and Taiten (and their dog, Sterling) to arrive. We went with my parents to check out the Sanctuary (High end resort) and take Avery and Ryan to get their first view of the ocean and the beach.

Wednesday, we took Avery and Ryan for their first bike ride - they rode together in the Hurley. They seemed to enjoy it and it put them both to sleep! That night, Ryan, Avery, and Taiten wore matching outfits (thanks to Aunt Shyloe) - they were so cute! Of course, it wasn't easy to get a picture of the 3 of them sitting still. Taiten is always on the go these days!

Thanksgiving Day, Avery and Ryan woke up in their cute Thanksgiving day jammies (thanks to Aunt Shyloe!). They then switched to their 1st Thanksgiving onsies (thanks to Grams!). This was our best weather day and we made the most of it! Avery and Ryan spent some time hanging out on the beach and got their first taste of sand. Avery only tried it once before she decided it wasn't for eating, but Ryan kept eating fistfuls (typical boy!)! In order to burn some calories before our big dinner, we took a long bike ride out to the Ocean Course with kids in tow during their nap time. Once we got to the Ocean Course, they ended up waking up, so we got some cute pictures of them on the grass. We had a great thanksgiving meal with over 20 of us that night. Greg and Vance did a great job with the fired turkey - it was delicious!

Andy and I have so much to be thankful for this year! Avery and Ryan amaze us every day and being parents is more rewarding than we ever could have imagined!

Andy got me a new camera for my birthday and I am having fun getting used to it. Here are some of my favorites pictures over the last few weeks.

9 month appt

Avery and Ryan had their 9 month appt today with Dr. Middlemist. We're glad our office has Saturday office hours for well visits. We were anxious to see how much they would each weigh and how much more Avery would weigh than Ryan. Avery weighed in 1 1/2 pounds more than Ryan, which is about what we were thinking. Avery is around the 50th %ile and Ryan is around the 10th %ile in weight. They had a great check up and did well with the few shots they had to get. We will be back in just 3 months for their 12 month check up.

Trick or Treat

We had a fun Halloween weekend starting Friday with Avery & Ryan in their cute "mummy" onsies. They also tried out their little pumpkin hats and bibs! Saturday, they dressed up as little golfers with their golf shoes, which fit perfectly, and their plastics clubs and golf balls. We headed out in the stroller and made it to a few houses before heading back to get them fed and answer the door for the tricker treaters. We kept them up an hour past their normal bed time due to the time change, which wasn't too hard since they took a nice long nap in the afternoon. We weren't sure if it would work in our favor or not. Luckily they slept until their normal time so I actually got an extra hour of sleep! We had the Meyers and Carlsons over for brunch and the Broncos game on Sunday morning. It was pretty chaotic with 6 kids 2 and under! Jack, Annabelle, and Gwenyth had fun running around and Ben showed Avery and Ryan his crawling skills! It was fun to see everyone. Unfortunately, the Broncos are no longer undefeated!
